Capernaum

Jesus made Capernaum His home during the years of His ministry: "Leaving Nazareth he went and lived in Capernaum" (Matt 4:13).Here you see the part of Capernaum that dates back to the New Testament.

This white stone synagogue is dated after the first century.

This later synagogue was built on the same spot of the original synagogue,
and in this location:
Jesus was confronted by a demonic possesed man while teaching here
(Mark 1:21-27).
Jesus healed the centurion's servant, who built the synagogue
(Luke 7:3).
It was here that Jesus gave His sermon on the bread of life
(John 6:35-59).

Here we have a contrast of the old and the new.

This first century home is referred to as the House of the Apostle Peter.(copyright www.bibleplaces.com)

A Franciscan order was so impressed with the idea that the location was once Peter's house they, built this octagon shaped church over the sight.(copyright www.bibleplaces.com)
