Prayer (Answered And Unanswered)

By Daymond Duck

The Bible gives several reasons why one’s prayers may not be answered: Asking amiss or asking for the wrong things or for the wrong reason (James 4:3); Sin (Isa. 59:1-2); Idolatry (Ezek. 14:3); Failure to give and help others (Prov. 21:13); Failure to forgive others (Mark 11:25); Failure to honor your wife (I Pet. 3:7); and, Doubt or Wavering (James 1:6-7)

The Bible also gives several conditions for answered pray: People need to abide in Jesus (John 15:7); Pray according to God’s will (I John 5:14); Pray in the name of Jesus (John 14:13; 16:23); and, have faith (Heb. 11:6)

It’s important to understand that God is more likely to do things for people, if they are doing things for Him. It’s impossible to bribe God. That won’t work. But the person who does God’s will is more likely to get his prayers answered than the person who doesn’t.

Glorify God in all things. Learn to be content regardless of your circumstances. Continue to pray regularly. And never give up.
