Do I need to go to church? Can't I just read my Bible and pray?
One of the great blessings in a believer's walk is fellowship with other followers of Christ. Satan knows this and he will do his best to keep you from enjoying the full richness of God's blessings in your life.
Hebrews 10:25 says, "And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching."
God's desire is for us to build each other up and to share our experiences that we may grow from them. The Christian church--the body of Christ is not a physical building, and there are many ways to have "church." Meeting in small groups with fellow believers is a great way to have fellowship, worship the Lord, pray together and study the Bible. In Christ believers form one body and each person has different gifts, according to the grace given us (Romans 12:5-6).
It is important to have regular contact with other believers, study the Word of God and have "quiet time" alone with the Lord, studying the Bible and praying daily. Many churches have become only social clubs, but there are some that are serious about serving the Lord. If you know of a church that is a true Bible teaching church that would be a good place to meet with others, but many believers are fellowshipping through the Internet, and meeting together in small groups when they cannot find a reliable church that is truly teaching the precepts of the Bible.
