Does God work through dreams and visions like described in the Bible?
Certainly, God worked through dreams and visions with people of the Old Testament era. Jacob, for example, dreamed about the heavenly escalator, with angels ascending to Heaven and descending back to earth. Ezekiel had the tremendous vision of the dry bones in the valley.
Old Testament dreams and visions were given to prophesy things to come down through the ages. It's the same with the New Testament prophets like Peter, Paul, John, and the Lord Jesus himself. This was done so God's children and the world would be made aware of the future, and of the power of God to precisely foretell. Always, it was to give God glory, and to call people to repentance.
Dreams and visions, given by God in the sense He gave them to the prophets, ended when the Word of God, the Bible, was completed. Everything He intended for man to know about the future was and is in that Holy Book. Prophecy in God's wonderful love letter to humanity tells us that dreams and visions directly from God to His children will be given again during the Tribulation, or Daniel's Seventieth Week, as it is also called. The Scripture says:
"And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams" (Acts 2:17).
Dreams, visions, and prophecies of a very specific nature for very specific situations will be given during that horrible era, no doubt, so God's children can successfully navigate through all of the satanic forces trying to murder them. Still, many martyrs will come from the ranks of the tribulation Saints.
However, Bible prophecy promises that there will be tremendous supernatural activity on behalf of the saints through God's forces, as well as evil supernatural activity through the evil forces of Satan.
