How is it possible that our world was created in six days?
Three main views of creation are debated. One is that the Genesis account of creation is accurate--God created the earth and everything in it in six days and then rested on the seventh. Evolutionists go to the other extreme and spout that a huge explosion in space began the process of developing life and everything has evolved from that. Then there are those who choose to take the middle ground and say that God is involved--He caused the world to exist--but that the six-day account is not literal.
It takes less faith to believe that Almighty God created the earth in six day than to believe that some cosmic explosion is responsible for the life and beauty all around us. The creation story is not in conflict with science. It is in conflict with any worldview in which God is absent. Look at a newborn baby and try to imagine a "big bang" as the foundation of that incredible new life; it's not a likely possibility. Then imagine a loving creator, and you have a very likely, intelligent scenario.
The Bible gives no option other than the fact that God is the Creator. Read the creation account in Genesis 1 many times so it really becomes absorbed in your heart and mind. You cannot believe part of the Bible and then reject other parts that you may not understand at first glance. We don't know how or why He created the earth the way He did. He is God and we could not begin to figure out with our finite minds His reasons for the way He does things.
"Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear" (Hebrews 11:3).
"Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him" (Colossians 1:15-16).
