Are angels real?
Angels are absolutely real. They
are created beings subject to the
will of God. They are a totally
separate kind of creation from
humans. People do not become angels
after death, and angels do not
become human. Angels are intelligent
beings Matthew 8:29; 2 Corinthians
11:3, I Peter 1:2), and
they are emotional beings
(Luke 2:13; James 2:19; Revelation
12:17).
Angels have individual
personalities and will (Luke
8:28-31; 2 Timothy, Jude 6). Angels
are spirit beings (Hebrews 1:14) and
do not have physical bodies. The
Scriptures make no mention that
angels are created in God's image,
as humans are (Genesis 1:26),
although Scripture does indicate
that they can take on physical form
(Genesis 19:1).
The angel, Gabriel, brought the
message to Mary that she was to have
a baby (read Luke 1:26-38). The
angel, Michael, has been fighting
wars on behalf of God since the fall
of Satan. Revelation 12:7, describes
a coming war where Satan will be
defeated by Michael and his angels
and will be cast out of heaven.
Satan (Lucifer) was the most
beautiful of all angels until he
decided that he was better than God
and fell from his exalted position
and became God's enemy and the enemy
of humanity (read Isaiah 14:12-21).
All throughout the Bible are
accounts of people interacting with
angels, angels acting on behalf of
people. Angels are real servants of
God but we won't know the
full-extent of their work until we
get to heaven. It is exciting to
know that then we will finally
understand the full-truth about what
angels have done in our lives and
what they have protected us from!
Some Scripture reference to
angels: (KJV)
To announce: Luke 1:26,
38: "And in the sixth month the
angel Gabriel was sent from God unto
a city of Galilee named Nazareth.
And Mary said, Behold, the
handmaiden of the Lord; be it unto
me according to thy word. And the
angel departed from her." Luke
1:26-38, give the complete
conversation between Mary andthe
angel Gabriel. The companion verses
to this are Luke 1:18-19.
To protect: Daniel 6:22: "My
God sent His angel and shut the
lions' mouths, so that they have not
hurt me, because I was found
innocent before Him; and also, O
king, I have done no wrong before
you."
In judgment: Matthew
13:41-42: "The Son of man shall send
forth
his angels, and they shall
gather together out of his kingdom
all things that offend, and them
that do iniquity. And shall cast
them into a furnace of fire: there
shall be wailing and gnashing of
teeth."
