Are people homosexual from birth?
In the world of scientific theory, the thinking on this issue is split down the middle. Some studies show that genetic, hormonal abnormalities may cause a predisposition to homosexuality. But, there are just as many studies that show that thinking is erroneous. At this time, there is no commonly accepted scientific theory about this issue.
Setting homosexuality aside, we are all predisposed to sin. We are born with a sin nature and cannot live without sin in our lives. God does not then say, "Well, that sin is okay because they were born that way." He calls sin exactly what it is and demands that it be dealt with. The same is true with homosexuality. Even if a person were somehow genetically predisposed to it, God still calls it sin and demands that it is dealt with.
The only way to overcome a sinful nature, including homosexuality, is by the power of Jesus Christ. Only Jesus can cleanse a heart of sin and then empower the believer to live strong in Him. If you are reading this and struggling with homosexuality or any other life-controlling sin, you need to know that Jesus loves you and desires for you to turn to Him. Simply admit your sinful state: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Rom. 3:23). "If we confess our sins, he is faithful
and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 Jn. 1:9). Then accept the free gift of God's grace, offered to all who believe and call on His name: "Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God" (Jn. 1:12).
