What or who is the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is the part of
the triune God whom Jesus promised
would come to be our counselor.
John 1.8: "When he comes, he will
convict the world of guilt in regard
to sin and righteousness and
judgment."
Jesus knew that once He left,
people would need help wading
through this sinful world. He
promised that the Holy Spirit would
be that help to believers and would
draw unbelievers to Him. If you have
given your heart to Jesus, then the
Holy Spirit dwells in you. He is the
force that guides you as you live
your life for the Lord. He comforts
you when you hurt and convicts you
when you are on the wrong path.
"Hereby know we that we dwell in
him, and he in us, because he hath
given us of his Spirit"(1 John
4:13).
"Whosoever shall confess that
Jesus is the Son of God, God
dwelleth in him, and he in God" (1
John 4:15).
"But he that is joined unto the
Lord is one spirit" (1 Corinthians
6:17).
"What? Know ye not that your body
is the temple of the Holy Ghost
which is in you, which ye have of
God, and ye are not your own? For ye
are bought with a price: therefore
glorify God in your body, and in
your spirit, which are God's" (1
Corinthians 6:19-20).
"For there are three that bear
record in heaven, the Father,
theWord, and the Holy Ghost: and
these three are one" (1 John 5:7).
"In whom ye also trusted, after
that ye heard the word of truth, the
gospel of your salvation: in whom
also after that ye believed, ye were
sealed with that holy Spirit of
promise, Which is the earnest of our
inheritance until the redemption of
the purchased possession, unto the
praise of his glory" (Ephesians
1:13-14).
God has given the believer His
precious and holy Spirit as a pledge
[earnest] of our inheritance. As you
go through your day, "glorify God in
your body, and in your spirit, which
are God's."
